With Malice.

I am sleepy, so my thinking is magical. I just wanted to say that when I look at my Sitemeter, I can tell who is reading with malice. I can feel it in the city's name. I can tell by the way the letters are shaped. It's like how the sound of the credit card machine at the restaurant sounds different when it's taking your money.

Well, I know the letters in my city's name are shaped like love. All of the dotable letters have tiny hearts over them.

My suggestion, stop with the site meter, stop with obsessing on who's reading who's not. You already know tons of people read your blog, you already know that tons of people love your writing. You already know that tons of people consider you their friend. Why continue to obsess over numbers, and ip addresses? Aren't the comments and the people you know come here enough? Understand?

I hope my town sounds friendly to you... It's a friendly place, honest.

Meh,in response to e.j's comment. While logically one may know those things if they deny their emotional need for reassurance in times when little else is reassuring it doesn't do anyone any good. It fees into the pretending that we are all emotionally healthy on every level and in every situation. I call for a happy medium.

EJ's right, though, Shiffy. Pretending to be in a good emotional place actually gets you to a good place...man, you guys would get WAY BETTER wisdom from me if we were all working together now. The whole recovery crap is just CHOCK FULL of answers.

Erm. The way I took what E.J was saying was as a response to your post. Which was about you checking your sitemeter in order to boost your ego. My point is that I don't see a reason to stop if it gives you a pick me up now and again. Middle ground is good. No one is and no one needs to pretend to be so self assured that they don't want to know what sort of impact they are having on the wider world, especially in this medium. Having nothing to do with putting on a happy face when things are bad to make it real.
