In the desert
I saw a creature,
naked, bestial,
Who, squatting upon the ground,
Held his heart in his hands,
And ate of it.
I said, "Is it good, friend?"
"It is bitter – bitter", he answered,
"But I like it
Because it is bitter,
And because it is my heart."

That poem always reminds me of Gollum...
Enjoy your weekend.
Greeting from Malaysia.
Gollum... I can see that, Joanne...
Hey I can relate to that poem. There was a tmie prior to and during early recovery where that would've been me. I was bitter and full of anger and pain and frankly, since it was familiar and mine, I was ok with it. Sick sick sick...
thanks for the poem!
Beautiful. I love your blog, thanks for writing it and being so open.
