Here's a news post from 2004 about heroin use in Iran. For whatever reason, I continue to be amazed that heroin is a problem in a country like Iran. The writer of this article explains that HIV is a growing problem as the addiction rates rise because the strict religous control over education, media, and culture prevents folks from talking about HIV, needles, and other health topics.
